These brushes look like unicorn horns, so you know I wanted them. I was hesitant, at first, because, based on the price, I didn’t have high expectations about the quality. The brushes are gorgeous! They’re thick, fluffy, and nicely shaped. I sometimes have to trim less expensive brushes, but these didn’t have any stray or loose bristles, and they didn’t require any trimming. Both the pointed and flat bristled brushes were in good shape. They have bluntly pointed handles in a metallic blue and purple gradient. They have rose gold-toned ferrules and bristles in a white-to-purple gradient. They look unicorn-worthy, but how do they perform?
The first thing I do with any brush is wash it. I grabbed my cleaning mat and went to town with my castile soap. I lost only two or three bristles, even though I always scrub my new brushes pretty vigorously. I put them in a drying rack, and, despite their thickness, they were dry and ready to use in just a few hours. Best of all, they all held their shape beautifully. I didn’t have to mold or reshape a single one.
These beauties also work well. They’re not only soft to the touch, but they’re gentle on my face, as well. They don’t prick the skin, as some synthetic brushes can. I applied foundation with the flat stippling brush, and did a pretty good job, even though I’m nowhere near as adept at using a brush for foundation as I am with a blender. The concealer brush is excellent, as well. My two favorites in any set, the powder and brow brushes, are excellent, and totally exceeded my expectations. Given how soft the other brushes are, I figured the brow brush would be too soft and basically useless. I was wrong, as it had the stiffness I needed to apply eyebrow pomade and apply concealer to the brow area afterward.
I can’t honestly say that I need any more brushes, but… I kind of want them all. There are several different sets in the listing, and I’m sorely tempted to grab another set to see if they perform equally well. I’m trying not to, but we’ll see if I can resist the temptation. I won’t lie, though…resistance ain’t looking good, particularly when I look at that white rainbow set. 🙂 If you’d like to check out this brush set, you can find it here.
Are you into trying different brushes, or do you have specific ones you stick with?
