Hi, all!

I got all I wanted in this month’s box. If you’re not familiar with Boxycharm, it’s a beauty box subscription that costs $21 per month for 4-5 full-size products. This month’s theme is “Would you be my valentine?”, which I love, since Valentine’s Day is my anniversary. What’d I get? Let’s dive right in!

Makeup Geek eyeshadow pans in Cherry Cola and Prom Night

I’d been dying to try Makeup Geek shadows, but hadn’t yet gotten around to it, so I was beyond happy to see two of them included in this month’s box. Prom Night appears taupe in the pan, but on the skin, it actually turns out to be more gray, and has a purple flash. Once applied, it has a metallic, duochrome edge that I love. I find it great for highlighting and as an all over lid color. Cherry Cola is my jam. It’s exactly as the name says, sort of a mash-up of brown and burgundy. If I were picking out colors, it’s definitely one I’d gravitate to, as browns, burgundies, and rusts are my go-to colors. Unlike Prom Night, Cherry Cola has a matte finish, but it isn’t dry or dusty-looking, by any means. In fact, they both share the same buttery, smooth application. There is a bit of fallout, because they’re so soft, but it doesn’t take away from the quality or performance. They both blend like a dream. They come in pan form, so you just get the metal pans that hold the eyeshadows.

Z Palette – Small

How perfect is this little palette? I didn’t have to worry about storing my shadows, after all! I’ve already got a couple large Z Palettes, and this small one is just as well-made. I love that they’re windowed, so I can see my shadows. This small one has room for nine 26mm pans, and since I only got two, I’m thinking this marks the beginning of my Makeup Geek obsession…I’ve got to fill it up, right?

Royal & Langnickel OMNIA Eye Kit

This kit comes with a detail brush in rose gold and a shader in yellow gold. The brushed metallic finish of the handles with the highly polished ferrules give these brushes a luxe appearance and comfortable grip. They feel just as good on the face, with soft, thick bristles. The shader is great for blending. The detail brush is my favorite, though. I’ve been practicing using pigments, and this brush is great for packing them on, as well as for getting into smaller areas, like my crease or brow bone. I have lost a few bristles on the shader, but none from the detailer

Juice Beauty – The Reflecting Gloss in Fig

This color is just perfect. It’s sheer, but does indeed have a metallic, reflective quality about it. I’d consider it more peach than fig, at least on my darker lips. I absolutely love it, and it’s the ideal nude. I can wear it with or without liner, and can even layer it over other colors. Most often, I wear it on its own. My struggle with lip liner is a story for another day, haha.

Dr. Brandt – Microdermabrasion

This is the best scrub I’ve ever used. It is super gentle, and if I get overzealous, as I sometimes do, my skin doesn’t feel raw or irritated. The particles in it are super fine, and on the skin it feels like baking soda, as opposed to sugar, but isn’t too finely milled to get the job done. I also like the creamy formula, which allows me to get it on my face, instead of having a bunch of powder that ends up in the sink or on my clothes. It also has a nice medicinal tingle, but doesn’t burn, even on the most sensitive areas. I can gently exfoliate my entire face, or rub a little more vigorously on problem areas. If my skin’s too dry, a quick steam makes exfoliation easier. I like this one so much because my skin is dreadfully sensitive, but with my eczema, I sometimes need more intensive treatment. I don’t have to be afraid to use this scrub. It’s effective without being harsh. With my constant skincare struggles, I think I’m more excited about this scrub than makeup…and that’s saying something!

Overall, this has been my favorite box ever. Evahhhh! Bar none. I will use every single product in it. The value is simply incredible this month, too – for $21, I got products worth nearly $150! The scrub, alone, costs $79 at retail price. This box totally exceeded my expectations, and they absolutely nailed it this month. Boxycharm, I will most certainly be your valentine! Are any of these products something you would use? Anything you really wouldn’t care for?
