Boxycharm July 2017 Review: What’s In The Box?

Hi, all!

I’ve tried out everything in my July Boxycharm box, and it’s time I shared my review. I’ll just jump right in!

Blinc Electric Eyes Palette

These shadows have the most incredible color saturation, and appear to be pressed pigments, as opposed to regular eyeshadows. My quick and dirty finger swatches on dry, bare skin were surprisingly opaque in a single swipe. They blend beautifully, and I was so tempted to keep this palette, but gave it to my daughter, knowing that she’d appreciate the neutrals much more than I would. Anyone who likes traditional colors would love this palette.

ColourPop Ultra Satin Lip in Lock Diary

I love ColourPop’s Ultra Mattes, but I’m not crazy about the satin finish. It feels sticky and almost fibrous as my lips pull apart, and it becomes almost textured. I really like the bright pink color of this lipstick, though I wore a liner with it for this face. I’ll wear it alone, but likely with a darker, more matte eye look.

bareMinerals Invisible Light Translucent Powder Duo

I’m kind of in the middle about this powder. I like the matte finish, but the glowy one ends up chalky. I’ll try it alone or under my foundation, perhaps, but to build up a real glow, the white base just becomes more and more apparent on my dark skin. The matte powder, though, provides a smooth finish that I like, and lasts all day. I did get some minor creasing under my eyes after several hours, but was able to lightly pat things back into place. I doubt this is a product I’d repurchase, but I’ll continue to use this one.

WinkyLux Uni-Brow Universal Eyebrow Pencil

I haven’t used a pencil in ages, preferring to use pomades and the occasional powder. I was shocked by how well this pencil stays put. It doesn’t look chalky, and it’s a true brown, not that grayish ash brown that I hate. Unlike most pencils I’ve tried, this one stayed in place all day. I have no brows, so usually the wax in a pencil is melted by my bare skin. Not this one…it’s a winner, for me.

Project Beauty Spray. Set. Go. Makeup Setting Spray

This spray does a decent job of keeping my makeup in place, but I hate the initial smell of it. It smells unpleasant, like boiled eggs, or standing water. Thankfully, the odor dissipates within less than a minute after spraying it, but…ew. You do have to keep it far away from your face, as the most comes out in large and powerful bursts, but it leaves a nice finish. I definitely won’t buy this again, though, because of the smell.

Overall, there was some good stuff in the box, but some just isn’t for me. At a value of more than $125, I definitely feel it was a great box, and that it was worth it. If you’d like to check out Boxycharm, you can find more information here.

Was there anything you’d like to try in this month’s box? Anything you’ve tried before?
