As you may know, this is my birthday month, so I’m taking my subscription boxes personally, as if they were just for me, including this month’s Boxycharm. In case you’re unfamiliar, Boxycharm is a subscription that provides 4-5 full size beauty products every month for the price of $21 USD. Now, then…let’s see how Boxycharm did with my birthday box! 😉
Biobelle Cosmetics sheet masks (3)
I’ve had good luck using these masks before, and have previously used the #iwokeuplikethis mask. I enjoyed trying the other two varieties, which were both new to me. Of the three, I liked the #beautysecret mask best and then the #iwokeuplikethis mask. Both provide lasting moisture and improved skin texture. My least favorite is the #primer mask, which I felt did very little to add moisture or make makeup application any better. In its defense, it is a 5-minute treatment, as opposed to the 15-20 minutes it takes for the other masks. I’m considering a purchase, whenever I can, but will be skipping the #primer.
Artist Couture Diamond Glow Powder in Illuminati
This was my first AC highlighter, and now I’m so pissed at myself for missing La Bronze. Illuminati appealed to me first because I loved the Illuminatus Trilogy (told ya…I’m a nerd). Next, I touched it; it’s finely milled and not grainy at all, so it doesn’t fall off the brush. Then, I put it on my skin…whoa! This highlighter has the most intense golden glow, and I absolutely see what all the hoopla was about. It’s fine, so it can be blended out for a subtle, everyday look. It can also be worn in all its “glow for the gods” glory…which you know good and well I do. Yesss…
RealHer Eyeshadow Palette I
I generally like the quality of RealHer products, and have tried several. This palette, however, is a complete miss for me. First, the neutrals. While I use neutrals, occasionally, they are generally just my base for more vibrant colors, so it didn’t appeal to me. Knowing, though, that I can always use a neutral for transition, I gave it a chance. And, no. These shadows are hard to pick up and just don’t have enough pigment for me to bother with. I saw someone else’s question to them about pigmentation, and their response was to wet the brush, try this and that…there’s just no way I’d go through the trouble with this palette. I know how to work with troublesome shadows, but don’t consider these worth the trouble. Just look at the swatches; anytime colors this light don’t show up on me, you already know. Just…no.
OFRA Cosmetics Long Lasting Liquid Lipstick in Santa Ana
I’m crazy about OFRA’s formula, so I was immediately excited to get a lippie. Santa Ana boasts the same great formula, and is a pretty color, too. On me, it’s a berry red with a hint of pink. I was surprised and happy to find it’s so flattering. I’ve been getting lots of red lipsticks lately, and am beginning to be comfortable wearing them. This is a good one.
Luxie Beauty Rose Gold Pro Precision Tapered Face Brush 640
This brush is great for flicking away powder after baking, and excellent for highlighting. It’s soft , and doesn’t shed. It was a little creased upon arrival, but after washing it, I put it back in the cleaned mesh sleeve, and it’s in perfect shape. It’s now just right, and is performs with the quality and effectiveness I’m used to from Luxie.
With the exception of the palette, this month’s Boxycharm is great! All in all, I have to say 4 out of 5 is pretty good. All four are items I’d purchase if I had the funds at the time. Of these, there was only one brand I was completely new to, Artist Couture, and I’m pretty impressed. If they ever bring back La Bronze, it will be mine! 🙂 If you’d like to know more about Boxycharm, you can find them here.
Are any of these products you’ve tried before? Would you use them again?
