I’ve got a review of yet another new-to-me brand, Darling Girl Cosmetics. In today’s #MOTD, I used some of the products in my order. Here’s what I got! I just did some quick finger swatches without primer or adhesive because I couldn’t wait to play in them. I also didn’t put on lotion after my shower, so pardon me for showing my ash. 🙂
Glitta Grip – I’ve been hearing about the wonders of Glitta Grip for quite a while, and it’s what prompted my order, but definitely not the only thing to grab my attention. It’s used as a glitter adhesive, and also to bring out the shimmer in some shadows. This may be my holy grail adhesive. I have a hard time knowing how long to wait before an adhesive is at just the right tackiness, but I find this one is pretty foolproof. I didn’t have a bunch of fallout, and I could blur any harsh edges with ease.
Superstar Serum – a mixing medium used with shadows for a foil effect or to create your own eyeliner. I only have a couple mixing mediums, but this one is perfection. All it takes is a drop to mix up a quick liner to your ideal consistency. It applies like a dream, with no cracking.
Blue Flame – This pigment is a deep indigo with a red shimmer. I love the lit-from-within quality of this shadow. It’s vampy with a fiery twist.
Madame Hydra – This was the gift with purchase at the time I ordered. It’s described as “a black base with a hot pink sheen and a shift to golden bronze with royal blue sparkle”. Say THAT three times fast! I love this shadow, and it’s a good representation of my personality. Sometimes, it appears almost black, sometimes copper, and at others purple.
Oh. My. God. – This is a Diamond Dust, from the Friends Central collection. While I’ve never been a fan of the show Friends, if I had to choose a single collection from DG, it’d be this one…there’s a ton of shifty, sparkly goodness that I had a hard time narrowing down. OMG is described as a blackened brown with copper sheen, silver sparkle, and color-shifting pink sparkle…but OMG is the most accurate description.
King Kong – This is from the Oh the Horror collection. So. Shifty. This black base is loaded with turquoise shimmer and has gold and silver sparkles.
Occupation…Dinosaurs – Another shadow from the Friends Central collection, this one is emerald green with silver and blue sparkles.
Ruby Soho – From the Darling Grrl! collection, this is a bright and vibrant red with lavender to blue holographic sparkle. I’m admittedly a holo-hoor, so it’s really no wonder that I needed this in my life. Red. Holo. ‘Nuff said.
I also picked up a couple blush samples:
Fantasia Inner Glow blush – I love an orange blush, but don’t have many, so I was eager to try this one. It’s described as an orange/coral with a subtle violet shift. On my skin, it’s more of a peachy pink. What’s cool about the Inner Glow blushes is that patting on a setting spray brings out the glow. I’m SO here for it, and will be needing all the colors, thankyouverymuch.
Aloha Soft Focus blush – This is a nice shade, a matte, muted pink with a hint of brown. I’ve been drawn to this shade of blush quite often, lately, and this is another good formula. The swatch looks much too light, but in real-life application, the edges are closer to what it looks like. It’s very soft and almost a sand color.
Of course, my life isn’t complete without highlighter, so I picked up a Spectral Shift to try. I chose the color Mellow Peaches, described as a sheer peach with copper sheen and peach to copper iridescence. Holy moly…that glow, though!
Here’s a look I did with some of my new pretties and some other products. It was late, I’m a dork, and I totally forgot to put on mascara. Ah, well…next time.
Madame Hydra – outer corner, lower lash line, foiled with Superstar Serum as liner
Ruby Soho – outer lid
Fantasia – inner lid, lower lash line, cheeks
Mellow Peaches – inner corner, highlighter evvverywhere
Other products used:
Juvia’s Place The Nubian palette – base and upper lid
NYX Rome soft matte lipstick
NYX Mineral Stick Foundation in Warm Almond
Milani Retouch + Erase concealer in Honey

So, it wasn’t perfect, but I rather liked this look and how it turned out. Will I be ordering again from Darling Girl Cosmetics? Let’s just say there’s a small second order on its way home to mama. It’s down the DG rabbit hole for me, and I want all the things. I’m happy I tried it, though Mr. Klawz may not be as enthused about this newfound love of mine. 🙂 If you’d like to see more of Darling Girl’s products, you can check them out here.
