Devinah Cosmetics Review

Hi, all!

I’ve been experimenting more with makeup, and as with my nail polish addiction, the more I learn, the more I find myself drawn to smaller boutique brands and indies. Today, I’m sharing a new-to-me brand called Devinah Cosmetics. As with most of the brands I’m trying for the first time, I discovered this one on Instagram, where I can easily get lost for hours, admiring all the pretty. I was immediately drawn to Devinah’s page, because of all the bright and vibrant colors, and since there was a sale at the time, I knew it was meant to be!

I ordered a total of 7 eyeshadows and 2 highlighters.

I picked three matte shadows: Passion, a reddish chocolate, Envy, a dusty jade green, and Jaded, a darkened teal.

I also got 4 metallic shades: Solar, a warm and juicy pink, Inamorata, a bright turquoise with a gold, mermaid-y shift, Fierce, a deep berry, and Odium, a deep but vibrant green with a insane golden shift, which was the shade that initially made my jaw drop.

These shadows are some of the most intensely pigmented I’ve ever used, and I’m especially impressed by the matte shades. Even without a white primer, the colors pop. They don’t blend out to nothingness on my dark skin, and they don’t give my skin that dry, ashy appearance. The metallics are all super shiny, and range from a foil finish to duochrome. Every last one of them is soft, creamy, and applies like butter. Holy moly…these eyeshadows, though! Because they’re so soft, there is a bit of fallout, but I can’t say I care. This. Is. Love.

The highlighter shades I chose were Fleur, a beautiful rose gold, and OMG, a pure, yellow gold. I’m completely unskilled at using highlighter, but that doesn’t stop me from trying. Fleur is more subtle, and seems just a little more finely milled. It can be used in everyday looks, and in more ways than one. I’ve tapped a bit on my lips and lids to bring a look together. OMG has a good deal more sparkle, and is a bit more like glitter with slightly larger particles than Fleur. I’ve used OMG most often in my more dramatic attempts. It’s a little more sparkly than I feel comfortable using for daytime, but it’s probably my favorite. Because gold. And glitter.

Also included in my order were 2 Lip Glossaries (I love that name) in the shade Devotion. Devotion was a free gift with purchase. Since my purchase doubled the amount required (oops!), I received two. I absolutely love the shade, a chocolatey, cool-toned brown with a blue-green duochrome shift. It applies like a dream, going on smoothly and evenly, with no patchiness whatsoever. My only problem with Devotion is the smell. It just has that old makeup scent, if you know what I mean. I’d wanted to add it to the pile of things I’m collecting for a future giveaway, but I don’t know that anyone would want it. It’s a pity, because the color is gorgeous, and I’ve worn it in several different looks, as it’s just that pretty. It’s a gloss, but sets to a lip balm finish, so while it does transfer a bit, it’s not instantly gone the moment I eat something. I like it enough that I’d try it again, but would swear it off if I got another with the same scent.

Here are a couple looks I did, and I’ve listed the products I used. I’ve been trying to keep better track, so I can remember what I like best and which products work well together (or don’t). I’m not sure if this is the best way or that I’ll keep it up, but I’m trying it out.
