Glossybox April 2017 – What’s in the Box?

Hi, all!

I’m dropping in with this month’s Glossybox review. I know, I know, I’d said I was canceling, but I can’t seem to let go just yet. Let’s take a look at what I got, shall we?

Mystery Brand “Beauty” Shampoo and Conditioner

Sigh. You already know. On the plus side, these were bonus items, so they didn’t count as one of my box’s contents. They’re labeled with just the word Beauty, but are actually a popular national brand that’s been reformulated. It also happens to be pretty good. Both of them smell very nice, and they leave a scent that lasts, but isn’t overwhelming. The little used it, and it left her hair nice and soft. Her coils stayed well-defined and springy after using it. On the flip side, these products did leave her scalp a little on the dry side, and though there was no dandruff, she complained about being a little itchy. I suggest that if you tend to be dry to use a moisturizing lotion or some jojoba oil on the scalp immediately after using them.

Vasanti Brighten Up! Enzymatic Face Rejuvenator

This is a very effective scrub. What I like most about it is that it’s gentle enough to be used up to five times per week. Any other scrub I use has a limit of three times before it feels as though I’ve overdone it. After a week (during which I used it four times), I see and feel a difference. While my blemishes and scars are still quite visible, there is definitely a smoother finish than before, and you can see an improvement from as recently as a week ago. I have gotten two cystic pimples in my chin in the last week or so, though, and my fingers are crossed that it isn’t from this scrub, because I’ve been avoiding silicone primers for the last couple weeks, and this scrub is the only recent change I can think of. I really like it, so pleeeaaase don’t let this be the culprit!

Gilchrist & Soames BeeKind Shower Gel and Body Lotion

These products both smell amazing! The shower gel rinses away quickly, without leaving a film of any kind. Afterward, my skin feels clean, but not squeaky-clean and stripped of moisture. The lotion is good, as well, but not quite as effective as the shower gel on my dry skin. This lotion, for me, is more of a summertime product. It feels nice going on, but it’s lightweight, and the moisture simply doesn’t last long enough. This lotion, though, will be greatly appreciated when it’s hot, and I need lighter coverage.

ColourPop Ultra Matte Lip in Teeny Tiny and Monday

I like ColourPop’s Ultra Mattes and was happy not to receive any dupes. Monday is a peach with brown undertones. It’s not very wearable for me without a liner, but is a nice summertime shade. Teeny Tiny is a plummy color, also with a hint of brown, and while this shade is a little more wearable for me, it still looks best with a liner. Though they’re called Ultra Mattes, they actually dry down to a very comfortable finish. The only complaint I have is that like the others in this line, they take a while to dry.

Jafra Cosmetics International Paris et Moi Eau de Parfum

This fragrance is a beautiful blend of fruit and floral. I definitely detect rose as one of the notes, but there is nothing matronly about it at all. Instead, it’s a sweet and sexy scent that’s wearable, in my opinion, for a younger or older woman. The sweetness tempers the heavier notes perfectly.

Doucce Maxlash Volumizing Mascara

I saw the brush in this mascara and had to reign in my excitement. I love a brush with short bristles, and this one didn’t disappoint. I was taken aback by its thick formula when I opened it, but despite its thickness, there weren’t a ton of clumps. It does a nice job of lengthening lashes, and lends itself well to layering. For the look I did, I used two coats, with no problem. It does a good job of controlling my unruly lashes, too, and tamed the strays that usually stick straight out despite curling.

Overall, while this box wasn’t my absolute favorite, I still think it’s a really good one, as far as value and usefulness. It’s a box like this that makes Glossybox tough to give up. If you’d like to find out more about Glossybox, you can do so here.

Is there anything in this box you’d be happy to get? Anything you wouldn’t?

Thanks for reading!
