So, this month’s Glossybox haul is here, and I’d like to show you what I got! In case you’re not familiar, Glossybox is a monthly subscription box that costs $21 USD per month, and includes five luxury beauty products.
Schwarzkopf Professional Smoothing Cream
So, I started with this one because you know how I feel about receiving hair products in my beauty boxes. Sigh. Once again, I have no way of testing this product, so…yeah.
Perfect Formula Pink Gel Coat
As a nail blogger, I’ve bought and used Pink Gel Coat on more than one occasion. This bottle makes my fourth, and as a base coat, it’s good, but not my go-to. Particularly in hot weather, in my sweatbox of an upper floor apartment, it can take longer than other base coats to dry and can cause bubbling, if I’m not careful. As far as protection when I don’t feel like polishing, it’s my absolute favorite. If I want to “go bare”, as I’ve been doing more often than not lately, Pink Gel is an excellent hardener, and it’s pink tint somehow makes my nails appear whiter. I don’t pay quite as much as the $30 retail price, but it definitely costs me more than the price of this box.
Jeanne Arthes L’eau de Rose
I was surprised, but I actually like this perfume. Usually, when I think of rose fragrance, I think of something that smells much more mature than I’d wear. Well, maybe it’s old age creeping up on me, but this is a nice scent. It’s not overwhelming; in fact, it’s more reminiscent of a rose water toner than a perfume. It’s not my favorite fragrance, but the subtlety of it makes it wearable for me.
Estée Edit Pink Peony Overnight Water Pack
This is a good moisturizer, and is quickly absorbed by my skin. The directions are to put it on after washing your face. It feels good, and leaves my skin very soft. The effects aren’t as lasting as I’d like, though, so I end up having to moisturize during the day. This is more of a summertime product for me, because I need something heavier for my winter skin.
Korres Sunflower and Evening Primrose Eyeshadow in White
I can always use a white or black shadow, and I expect this one will come in handy. It’s a shimmery white, and almost iridescent. It applies smoothly, having a soft, satiny feel. Because it’s soft, there’s a little fallout, but it’s minimal. This shadow is one that would look good on its own or with other colors. I like how it looks blended out, because the sheen somehow catches the light more beautifully the more sheer it is.
Overall, this is a good box, but not a great one, for me. The more I consider it, the more I think Glossybox will be one of the subscriptions I let go. I’m still struggling with the decision, because I’ve gotten some products I absolutely love via Glossybox, but the inability to customize often leaves me disappointed and with a growing pile of products I can’t use. Of course, the average person wouldn’t have the same issues I have, but I’d rather have the option to personalize my choices or just get makeup. Even if makeup isn’t quite the right color, I can mix it or otherwise find a way to use it; I can work it out…you know I hate throwing away beauty products. I end up giving away lots of things, but some things I don’t want to give away once opened. I may get the March box, but I’m not positive. I’ll keep you posted! If you’d like to check out Glossybox, you can find it here.
Have you tried any of these products before? Are there any you’d like to try?
