Indie Love and Mother’s Day #MOTD: Fyrinnae and Bentley MUA

Hi, all!

I hope you had a great Mother’s Day! Mine was uneventful…laughs and libations, all stress-free. I dropped in to share yesterday’s look and a couple reviews featuring some of the products I mentioned in my last haul post. I’ve been battling a cold but felt up to playing around with my Fyrinnae and Bentley MUA goodies.

I’ve been using my Bentley MUA Primer oil almost daily. I’d never used a primer oil before now, and with my combination skin, I was a little leery. It’s full of gold shimmer, but you only need 2-3 drops at a time, so it’s not like a face full of glitter; in fact, you have to look closely to see it on the skin. It’s not super-greasy, and is lightweight. Laying down foundation over this oil is a breeze, and contrary to what I expected, it doesn’t slide off my face. In photos, I kept thinking my face was oily, but I realized it was the light reflecting off the shimmer. You can see the actual finish more clearly in the darker photos. I’ve been wearing this oil alone when I don’t feel like putting on makeup, and glowing for no reason. My skin really likes it, and I have fewer breakouts (except for a recent allergic reaction to another product) because I haven’t been using silicone-based primers for the last week. I also have noticeably less flakiness – you can see an obvious difference from as recently as a week or so ago.

I love the color of Galore, Bentley’s highlighter. The green-gold is very flattering. It’s in powder form, but somewhat sticky, so it sometimes sticks together and  falls right off the brush. This is likely because of the avocado and other oils in the formula. It goes on smoothly, though, and it blends easily. I went ham with it, because I love to glow, but had a hard time capturing it with my lack of photography skills. I managed to show some of its shine, but you really can’t see how nuts I went with it.

I finally got to play with my new Fyrinnae pigments, and they’re just as fabulous as I’d imagined. Soft and smooth, they go on like a dream, including the semi-loose formulas. I’d just intended to try their Pixie Epoxy, but I saw all the pretty colors, and I was a goner. I used the Fyrinnae products on the lid, but used other shadows because I don’t have many Fyrinnae mattes…yet.

The Pixie Epoxy is just as good as I’ve heard, and in case you were considering it, you should definitely pull the trigger. It’s easy to use and makes shimmery, sparkly shades come to life. It takes so little that it will last quite a while; I simply dab a little on the back of my hand with the applicator wand and use a finger or small brush to dab it lightly where I want it. After a quick pass of the finger, I let the epoxy dry down to a slightly tacky finish, then used a brush to lightly tap on the color. The colors turned out much more vibrant than my usual methods. I totally see why everyone recommends Pixie Epoxy, and there will be a tube forever in my stash.

The one lippie I got, Wizardry II, is a beautiful burgundy-turquoise-pink multichrome matte that I fell instantly and utterly in love with. The color is true, and all the colors in the tube appear on the lips. This is a very thin liquid lipstick, and takes two coats for full opacity. It’s smooth enough to be worn sheer, though, if you choose. Application is easy and without streaks or patches. Wear is amazing. This lipstick has a hard matte finish, but doesn’t bead or flake. My lips aren’t dried out in the least by this lipstick. I usually prefer a soft matte because of the dryness, but this is the most comfortable hard matte I’ve ever worn. It’s so comfortable there were times when I thought sure it must be gone, because I couldn’t feel it. Nope…still there! It didn’t budge until I took it off, and I needed the oil in my makeup remover to do it. I’ll be needing more of these, for sure.
