I just stopped by with a look at what’s in my ipsy bag this month. For anyone unfamiliar, ipsy is a customizable beauty subscription priced at $10 per month. It provides an assortment of 5 full- and deluxe-size products. Now, on to my own ipsy bag!
This month’s bag is super cute and made of denim. I’m not a huge jeans-wearer, but oddly, I love denim everything: purses, shoes, dresses, hats…you name it, I’ll rock it. And this one has a bright orange lining and zipper pull, and if you know me, you’ll know my first thought was, “Oooo, Bears colors!” So, yeah – it went into my purse immediately.
2 Biobelle Sheet Masks – #StayGorgeous and #iwokeuplikethis
These masks work very well to soften the skin. It’s suggested to either rinse and moisturize, or to rub in the masks’ serum for moisture. Because my skin so desperately needs moisture, I combined the methods, and let the serum stay on while adding moisturizer. I found the #StayGorgeous mask left my skin a little more supple and lasted longer. They both made my face really soft, and I love the moisture they provide. They’re of the fiber variety, but still stand up pretty well to handling.
NYX Butter Lipstick in Lifeguard
This is a very pretty brick red color that would suit nearly any skin tone. The swatch can be found below. I don’t know that it would catch my eye if I was shopping, as my tastes lean more toward the adventurous, but it’s flattering and very wearable. What stands out most, though, is the formula. It applies like…well…butter! It’s unbelievably smooth and creamy. It’s also extremely comfortable to wear, and on the lips it feels more like a gloss than lipstick. Another nice thing is that it’s richly pigmented and buildable, so the more swipes I use, the more intense the color. I have several of the butter glosses, but this is my first lipstick in the butter formula…there will definitely be more added to my stash. If there are any blues or greens in this line, they’d better get ready to come home to Mama!
BelláPierre Cosmetics Volumelash Waterproof Mascara
I’ve gotten some great products from this brand, but not everyone can do mascara, so I approach any new ones with a screw-face and side-eye. It only intensified when I opened it and saw the stiff plastic bristles that I really kinda hate. Upon further inspection, though, I noticed these bristles were quite small and very close together. I actually like this mascara. Because the bristles are smaller and tighter, they don’t clump my lashes together like the ones with the hated oversized bristles. I got good coverage without needing to add any additional coats, and I didn’t have to go in with a spoolie to separate the lashes. This mascara doesn’t do much for length, but it adds volume without that “face full of spiders” look. I like it!
Luxie Beauty Rose Gold Blush Brush 514
I do have a brush addiction, and Luxie is a brand I like. This one is no exception. The bristles are soft and fluffy, and the slightly thicker handle makes for a comfortable grip. The rose gold ferrule lends an air of luxury and looks nice with the pastel pink. In addition to feeling good, the bristles are firmly attached to the ferrule, and after several cleanings, I’ve yet to lose any. They also hold their shape very nicely. I simply shake out any excess water and hang it to dry; there’s no pinching or shaping necessary.
Hikari Cosmetics Cream Pigment Eyeshadow in Latte
I’d never used a cream eyeshadow before now, but found this one remarkably easy to apply. All I used for the look I did was a finger. No brush at all. This makes it a great product for being on the go, because all I need is this pan of shadow, an eyeliner, and a lippie. Latte is a nice, wearable bronze, and it blends beautifully. I like the ability to build it up or blend it out for different looks. It’s an easy-to-wear color that can be worn with lots of other colors, but can also be worn on its own for some simple daytime glam.
Overall, this month’s bag is a win, for me, and I’ll definitely be using everything in it. Nice job, ipsy! I’ve read up on how to better personalize my bag, and it seems to be working. If you’d like to know more about ipsy and how it works, you can find out here.
Have you tried any of these products before? Which, if any, would you like to try?
