Ipsy Glam Bag Review November 2016

Greetings, all!

So, by now, you’ve probably noticed my growing penchant for beauty as a way to make myself feel better. Since I’m pretty clueless (and financially challenged), I’ve taken the opportunity to subscribe to a few beauty boxes, just to try new things and hopefully find some that work for me. Ipsy was my first subscription, and since I was so happy with last month’s bag, I was excited about this one. On to the goodies!

The bag

This cute little bag seems to be made of neoprene, and is navy blue. It’s the perfect size to stash my makeup for a night or weekend. I love the print, which consists of stars creating a constellation of makeup, and includes images of palettes, bottles, and brushes. The zipper pull is in the shape of a star and has the ipsy logo printed on it. It comes in gold or silver, and I ended up with gold. I think it fits the rockstar theme perfectly!

Eyeko Skinny Liquid Eyeliner Deluxe in Pitch Black

This liner works like a dream. Whether I want a thick or thin line, I can lay it down with ease. It worked from the instant it touched my skin. It’s super opaque and blackest black. It’s smooth flowing, and I don’t experience any skipping. The formula is simply excellent. There’s no clumping, caking, or flaking when I use it alone or over eyeshadow. After several uses, the tip is still perfectly sharp, with no fraying or fuzziness.

Absolute New York Matte Stick in Dark Red

I like the color, and while I don’t often wear red lipstick, this one goes nicely with my skin tone, even without liner. I’m pleased with the color saturation and coverage. I’m not too impressed with the finish. It’s not a hard matte, but more of a satin. I experience a lot of color transfer, which means it doesn’t last long on the lips. I find myself retouching it like regular lipstick, which is disappointing. I’ll still wear it, and will possibly buy others, just with the knowledge that they aren’t truly matte.

Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara

img_0589

This is my first Too Faced product, and if this mascara is a reflection of their other products, I see what all the fuss is about. The shape of the brush is cool, but isn’t that big a deal to me. What I’m impressed with is the formula. There aren’t any clumps in the bottle or on the lashes. It doesn’t flake, either. I like how my lashes look thicker, but are still separate. This mascara is now my jam.

tarte cosmetics maracuja oil

This oil is the bomb. I love how soft my skin feels after using it. I’m leery about putting oil on my face, because I’m acne-prone, but I haven’t had any reactions or breakouts from using it. It’s silky smooth, and it starts being absorbed the moment it touches my skin. I deal with rough patches because of my eczema, but they’re already getting smaller and aren’t nearly as rough as when I started using this oil every night. I’ll definitely be purchasing a full size bottle. It’s a bit expensive, but worth it.

Indie Lee CoQ-10 Toner

This toner is a good one with excellent cleaning power, but it’s very gentle. I just spray some on and wipe with a cotton pad. It’s not super high in alcohol content, so it doesn’t burn. I don’t get that tight, overly dry feeling, which means my skin won’t freak out and overproduce oil. It also makes a great cooling mist when I do start getting a little oily throughout the day.

Overall, I’m as happy with this bag as my first. I think it’s well-curated, and filled with things I’ll actually use. I’d definitely say ipsy nailed it again with this one. You can find out more or subscribe by clicking here.
