Medusa’s Makeup Vegan Beauty Box Review February 2017

Nothing to disclose

Hi, all!

I’ve got this month’s Medusa’s box to share with you today! In case you’re not familiar, Medusa’s Makeup is an indie brand that specializes in vegan and cruelty-free beauty products. The box costs $15.95 a month, and includes 3-5 full size products. They currently have a few offerings that aren’t vegan on their site, but are phasing them out, so if you also shop non-vegan, you can catch them on sale before they’re gone. I’m excited to show you what I got this month, so let’s jump right in!

Eye Dust in New Wave

What a relief it was to get this shimmery turquoise pigment! Typically, February offerings lean toward the pink and red, which rarely excite me. New Wave is brightly colored, and has a somewhat hidden golden shimmer that I love. I’m extremely inexperienced when it comes to pigments, but this one is finely milled and easy to apply. I used glitter glue, because I just happened to have it out, and it worked! Because it’s so fine, it was easy to pack on, and it blended easily with my other shadow.

Hilighter in Moonlight

Moonlight, like New Wave, is finely milled and is a white base with gold shimmer. I’m usually leery about putting white powder on my dark skin, for fear of looking “ashy”, but once on, nothing shows but the gold, and oh, my…that shimmer, though! I’m in love. With its fine particles and blendability, Moonlight is my new favorite. It’s really wearable, and it can be worn subtly during the day or layered for a straight-up, “glow-to-the-gods” beat.

Kabuki brush

This brush has a mini handle, but has full, lush bristles that are hot pink. It’s the perfect size to throw in my makeup bag, and its quality is great. I haven’t lost a single bristle, and it’s been through two cleanings already. It takes hours to dry, because it’s so thick, but it holds its shape like a champ. I’ve used it for both pressed and loose powders, and it picks up product beautifully. It’s soft, feels good on the skin, and blends very well.

For the look in the photos, I used all the products in this month’s box, and paired them with the Juvia‚Äôs Place the Nubian palette on my eyes and two lip composites by Who is She Cosmetics. I liked the sort of rocker-chic, grunge vibe of my blue lips and messy hair. I added a choker when I went out. My little can’t stand for me to wear blue lipstick, because, according to her, I’m too old. Ha! That only makes me wear it more! It’s what I love about makeup. Being able to change my makeup to suit my ever-changing moods is freeing and fun, and my mistakes wash off at the end of the day. Medusa’s Makeup nailed it with this month’s box, and all the products I got are ones I’ll actually reach for. The quality of each item is top-notch, too. My box even included a little box of conversation hearts for Valentine’s Day, which I felt was thoughtful and very sweet. At $15.95, this box is definitely a bargain, and is worth taking a look at, if you’re a beauty on a budget like me! You can find out more about Medusa’s monthly subscription here.

Were there any items included in this box that you’d use?
