Notoriously Morbid Cosmetics May 2017 Mystic Monthly

Nothing to disclose

Hi, all!

So, I made it off Notoriously Morbid‘s Mystic Monthly waitlist, and I’ve got my first review to share! In case you’re not familiar, the Mystic Monthly is a subscription with an annual theme (this year’s theme is Witches Inn) that contains a full size Mystic Matte liquid lipstick, as well as one other full size lip product each month. It costs $10 USD per month shipped domestically, and $16 USD for international shipping.

This month’s subject is Märet Jonsdotter, who was the first person to stand accused in Sweden’s witch hunts.

In this month’s sub is a Dawn til Dust lip balm in the scent Red Oil. It smells divine, having a sweet but mild fragrance. This is a harder balm than I generally like, but it’s perfect for summer, because it holds up very well in my purse without softening. The formula is very moisturizing, but not sticky in the least. I get 3-4 hours of wear before needing to reapply, and even if I don’t, my lips stay soft. Despite it being a harder balm, it doesn’t feel hard or dry on my lips.

This month’s Mystic Matte is named Märet, and is described as terracotta pink. In the swatch photo, the left side is how it looks when applied, and on the right side, I patted it a bit to blot, and it’s more peachy. This little trick is one of the reasons I love Mystic Mattes so much…they’re like having two colors in one! Unlike many matte liquid lipsticks, which look terrible if you disturb them before they’ve set, blotting, patting, or pressing the lips together after applying darkens a MM and makes any sparkle shine through. I love the green-gold shift in Märet, and expect this to be one of my go-to summer lippies. Here’s a look in which I wore Märet.
