I’m back with my swatches and review of this month’s Vanishing Cabinet, and July’s theme is Love Stinks, a reference to The Wedding Singer! I was so excited about a box celebrating this movie, which is chock-full of dark humor and goofy shenanigans. This VC contains three eyeshadows and a blush. All I could think as I unpackaged everything was, “See? Billy Idol gets it!” Let’s take a look at the colors! I’m terrible at describing colors, but I’ll give it my best shot. All my swatches were done with a dry brush on bare skin.
Pretty Pretty Please – a metallic fuchsia with a blue sheen and blue and silver sparks
Grade-A – silvered taupe with a red overlay and blue sparks
Whoopity Doo – electric blue with silver sparks
Church Kiss – a warm pink blush with a slight golden shift and silver sparkle
I love the colors, which to me, are quintessential 80’s colors. They’re the perfect testament to the royal blue eyeliner pencil and fuchsia Wet ‘n Wild lipstick with the iridescent blue sheen that I wore religiously (number 502 or 520…something like that, I believe). 🙂 This is a great VC, and one I’ll make use of, especially Pretty Pretty Please. Whoopity Doo seems like an obvious favorite, but P3 is the exact color of my very first makeup obsession, and I bought that lipstick faithfully.
Here’s my quick look using all the pretties in the July Vanishing Cabinet. I’d call it an updated take on my old school look, complete with the frosted eyeshadow, blue liner, and fuchsia lip. It worked out perfectly that P3 is lip-safe!
Grade-A – lids, lower lash line
Whoopity Doo – foiled as liner, lower lash line
Step Out of the Shadows (highlighter) – inner corner
Church Kiss – blush
Step Out of the Shadows – highlighter
