Hi, all!

I’ve got yet another sub box to share with you. Today, it’s the Ricky’s NYC Cult Crushes box. The Cult Crushes box costs $11 per month, and can include all manner of items sold by Ricky’s NYC. This month’s theme is “Lock in Moisture”.

Phytocitrus Hair Mask

I’ll start with the fact that my very first box came with not one, but two hair products. Sigh. The first is the Phytocitrus Hair Mask. It’s a conditioner geared toward the enhancement and protection of color-treated hair. I’ve got no way of telling how well it works, and this product was just a complete and utter miss, for me.

RickyCare No-Crease Bow Clips

The second hair-related item is a set of RickyCare No-Crease Bow Clips. Oddly (and happily) enough, these work well for me. These clips are great when I’ve got my wigs installed. They’re easy to use; just squeeze it open and slide if where you need it. It leaves no marks or creases on the hair. These clips are actually a win.

Skyn Iceland Pure Cloud Cream

This cream is very nourishing, and my skin feels moisturized for hours after using it. It’s a thick and somewhat heavy cream, but isn’t greasy. This is an excellent barrier for winter, but will probably be a little too heavy for me once the weather warms up. For now, though, it’s ideal, and my skin loves it.

Lipsmart

This lip balm does provide noticeable moisture, but it isn’t my favorite. It has a really nice scent, but contains a silicone derivative, which, I find, I don’t much care for on my lips. The balm is thin, which is nice, but my lips actually feel drier once it wears off, and I actually had to put on another balm after this one, because my lips were chapped.

Nugg Soothing Face Mask

This mask is thick and very soothing to my skin. I was experiencing some irritation when I tried it, from something or another, and this mask did a great job of quickly calming my skin. There was a slight tingle, when wearing it, but nothing uncomfortable. It is incredibly moisturizing, and the effects last for hours. It was quite thick, and rinsing took a little longer than I liked, but the softness was worth it.

Overall, the box was good, but didn’t really wow me. I enjoyed the mask and the cream very much, and the hair clips were a surprise win. The hair mask was the biggest miss, and I was surprisingly disappointed in the lip balm. I’ll give this box another try, based on the strength of previous boxes I’ve seen, but I’m not yet convinced I’ll keep the subscription beyond that. If you’re interested, you can find Ricky NYC’s Cult Crushes box here.

Did any of the items strike your fancy? Are there any you wouldn’t consider using?

Thanks for reading!
